Franz West

DER FICKER I

The publication is a revival, initiated by Franz West, of the famous „Brenner,“ the journal edited by Ludwig von Ficker in Innsbruck, whose circle included Georg Trakl and Ludwig Wittgenstein. The text and image contributions by the artists and authors and the interviews conducted with them by the Austrian poet Benedikt Ledebur revolve around themes of linguistic theory and philosophical history, reflect on the working methods of the artists involved, and work on an aesthetic of modernity in the conceptuality of collage. In the tradition of the „Brenner“, but also of the Dadaists and the „Wiener Gruppe“.
