Harkeerat Mangat
Untitled Edition
A drawing of a mid-century architect table, made by manufacturer Nestler – the very table Harkeerat Mangat has used to make all of his drawings and paintings thus far. An empty sheet of paper lies on the surface, surrounded by displaced sketches for architectural models. A multitude of possibilities for what could be drawn on the paper, the models appear like chaotic distractions around a central focus point. Mangat proposes that an artwork is a singular point in a chaotic network of ideas, history, and culture – a piece of a much larger puzzle.
This edition is a silkscreen print reproduction of a drawing by Harkeerat Mangat, that was on view in his first institutional solo exhibition titled Distractions at the Bonner Kunstverein, on the occasion of receiving the Peter Mertes Stipendium in 2021. ↱
